SPECIAL FEATURE!Mac OS X "Jaguar" Preview June 11, 2002 Back in December, they served us with cease and desist papers when we gave you a sneak preview of the next major build of Mac OS X. Now that the cloud of secrecy's lifted some, and Apple itself has released more information, everybody's able to breathe a little easier. So we present you these screen shots from build 6C48 of the next release (labeled Mac OS X 10.2 in this version). Look, learn, and enjoy.
SPECIAL EXCLUSIVE!Mac OS 10.2 (Build 6B11): Sneak Preview December 20, 2001 A little bird flew over the Microsoft Eradication Society Towers and dropped something valuable upon us, for a change. Some rather sultry little screenshots of an early build of Mac OS 10.2 came down to us from this heavenly avian source. If you're an OS X user eagerly awaiting news on what's coming soon in the best damn operating system for the desktop, you'd better take a look now, before the words "cease and desist" suddenly appear on our monitors. Another Microsoft Success Story: Microsoft: The Choice of the Taliban. The site www.talibanonline.com is running Microsoft-IIS/5.0 on Windows 2000. November 24, 2001 While we were poking around silicon.com this afternoon, we happened upon this interesting little tidbit: The website talibanonline.com, registered by the Afghanistan National Taliban, runs on Windows 2000, according to Netcraft. The silicon.com story has all the sordid details on this dubious endorsement. And that's not all the rich, juicy, sure-to-embarrass-Microsoft news that our friends in Britain have for us. Faithful site visitor Fly C alerted us to a cleverly defaced Windows XP billboard on Old Street in London. Then we came across the story in The Guardian. Enjoy the elegant results of this good, old-fashioned limey ingenuity:
They even took the time to make sure the integrity of the billboard's typeface was unharmed. Vandals with a design conscience -- mmmm, that's good, tasty stuff! Got any computers or hardware to spare? April, 2001 We'd like your old or unused hardware. In the interests of hands-on training on UNIX administration; setting up a free shell box or two; or just plain puttering around, we need hardware. If you've got an old machine (486 or later, or Mac 68030 or later), or some hardware (hard drives in particular), please e-mail us. We'll pay for shipping, and you'll have the satisfaction of not only getting rid of your unused junk, but helping out a wonderful cause! (You believe that, right?)
Apple Joins the UNIX Family With Mac OS X
March 24, 2001 With Apple making the jump to a BSD UNIX as the foundation of their beautiful new OS X operating system, Microsoft is now officially all alone as the only major operating system vendor that has its head in the sand, hoping you won't know that UNIX exists, much less that it's a far, far better choice than anything Redmond will ever produce. Now that Mac OS X has been released, it's high time you learn more about it at Apple's website. We Have A New Home! Winter 2001 Our eternal gratitude goes to Interactive Ideas for taking over as our hosting provider under the sunny skies of southern California. They've been far more supportive than we could've possibly dreamed, and were even kind enough to let us take the traffic for their fuckBillGates.net and .org domains! How's that for proof that we belong together? Celebrity Sightings? April, 2000 Our server logs tell the tale: On April 4, 2000, Steve Jobs was kind enough to visit this site no more than three minutes after we e-mailed him an invitation to come visit. (He uses OmniWeb on Mac OS X, by the way -- and he only hung around for about a minute.) Our logs also show hits from IBM, Apple, Motorola, Intel, VA Linux, Cisco, Oracle, and of course, 53 visits (so far) from Microsoft headquarters. Hi, Bill! |
